NATH receives grants to help fight homelessness

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing, Inc., (NATH) recently received a couple of grants, for which they applied earlier in the year.

Dec. 5, NATH executive director Tammy Modic and NATH past president Bill Miller attended the Green Bay Packers Foundation grant recipient luncheon at Lambeau Field, where they accepted $4,000 from the foundation. NATH was one of 213 recipients representing human service organizations that fight hunger, fight homelessness and support the elderly. The foundation donated $800,000 in total.

The Harley-Davidson Foundation also awarded NATH a $4,000 grant. The foundation provides community support in areas where they have corporate facilities, targeting areas of “greatest need” among underserved populations. Modic said the grant will provide shelter, food, basic needs and case management for one resident for just over 90 days.

It costs NATH $43.25 per resident per day to stay at Frederick Place, which has been home to over 600 “unduplicated” individuals since its doors opened Jan. 31, 2011. The youngest resident was 2 years old and the oldest was 78.
