The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the officers involved in an attempted arrest June 17 that resulted in a fatality.
According to a press release issued Friday, July 3, at approximately 10 a.m. June 17, Deputy Alyssa Knabenbauer and Deputy Justin Orth went to 5620 Lumen Lake Drive to arrest John Krga, 76, for first-degree sexual assault of a child and repeated acts of sexual assault to the same child.
“During the arrest, Krga produced and discharged a firearm,” the release states. “Deputy Orth responded by discharging his firearm, striking Krga. Deputy Knabenbauer did not discharge her firearm. Krga was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Pursuant to Wisconsin law, an outside agency is investigating this officer-involved critical incident.
The Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is directing the investigation.
