Lawrence, Beske, Worrall to compete at state track meet

Posted

Three Rhinelander athletes will be competing Saturday at the State Track and Field Championships. Rebecca Lawrence, Jaden Beske and Cole Worrall advanced from sectionals to make their appearance at the state meet to be held at the UW-La Crosse Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Lawrence finished in second place with a high jump of 5 feet 2 inches, tying her personal best height. The top three high jumpers reached the same height, but first place had fewer misses and third place had one more miss along the way than Lawrence.

Beske tied his personal best height at 6 feet and placing third in sectionals. The winner jumped 6 feet 1 inch.

Worrall will participate in two events, the 110 and 300 hurdles, after placing first in the 110 and second in the 300, trailing the first place running in that race by 0.13 seconds.

Other Hodags competing at sectionals last week were Caleb Olcikas and Jacques Tulowitzky in the 100 meter dash, Olcikas in the 200 meter dash, Ty Welk in the 400 meter dash, and in the 4x100 relay it was Olcikas, Tulowitzky, Ross Skeen and Brock Snyder.
