Kindergartners tour Rhinelander

Posted

Crescent Elementary School's Kindergartners went on a Rhinelander community field trip thanks to a grant from the Hodag Schools Foundation (HSF).  The students learned about various careers and the community of Rhinelander while showcasing their respectful and caring character traits practiced through the school district's Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports program (PBIS).

The Kindergartners started with creating tie-dyed t-shirts to show their own sense of community within their grade level and at their school.  Partners in Education (PIE) also helped out by providing willing businesses that wanted to share their expertise with the young students.  The kindergartners visited CoVantage Credit Union, Grace Lodge, Trig's, the Rhinelander Court House and the Chamber of Commerce. During a lunch break at Pioneer Park, the Rhinelander Fire Department, Oneida County Sheriff's Department, the City of Rhinelander and WJFW Newswatch 12 stopped by to visit with their vehicles and shared a little about their careers.  The final destination was the large Hodag statue at the Chamber of Commerce, where the students were filmed thanking the businesses, Rhinelander community, HSF, PIE and The School District of Rhinelander. They also wished WJFW a Happy 50th Anniversary!
