Kim Simac considering run for 34th Assembly

Kim Simac of Eagle River, local business owner and long time resident of the Northwoods, is considering a run for the 34th District Assembly seat that has opened up due to the impending retirement of Representative Dan Meyer.

Noting great respect for Representative Meyer, Simac praised him as "a legislator who has exhibited moral and ethical conduct worthy of those who elected him to represent them in Madison. The people of the 34th District can be proud of Dan's service and whoever is elected to fill this seat will have big shoes to fill."

Simac recently ran in the historical 2011 12th District Recall special election against Senator Jim Holperin. It was a tough campaign that earned Simac praise and respect from conservative leaders throughout Wisconsin.

Simac feels a strong sense of loyalty to her 34th District neighbors. "With so much opportunity for residents to build meaningful lives in the Northwoods, we must have committed legislatures willing to work hard for solutions to problems that stand in our way." She added, "In my opinion we have so many rich blessings here--the lakes, forests, schools and great people. There should be a waiting line to live and do business in the 34th."

Simac's has had an outpouring of encouragement and support from friends, family and political associates to consider running for the 34th District Seat since Representative Meyer's announcement of retirement. She is seriously considering her options and will make a formal announcement in the very near future.

Simac would be the second Republican to join the race, as Rhinelander City Council President Alex Young announced his intentions to succeed Meyer on Feb. 7.
