The Tomahawk Hatchet softball team traveled to Rhinelander on May 12 to take on the Hodags at Andrea Musson field.
Tomahawk opened the game with 3 runs in the first inning. Rhinelander came back with single runs in the 2nd and 4th innings to tighten the back-and-forth contest. The Hatchets continued to manufacture offense, scoring 1 in the 5th and 6th innings to go up 5-2. The Hodags rallied with 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to tie the score and neither team could score in the 7th to put the game into extra innings. The drought was short-lived, however, as the Hatchets scored 3 runs in their half of the 8th inning to take the game 8-5.
