In their inaugural game as a program, the Rhinelander Rebels Junior Legion baseball team (U16) came out on top in a high-scoring affair, defeating Marshfield 20-18 on June 16.
Neither team scored in the opening inning, but Marshfield broke through with two runs in the top of the second. The Rebels answered emphatically in the bottom half of the frame, plating nine runs to take a commanding lead.
From there, both offenses took over as pitchers on both sides struggled to record outs. By the time the final out was made, the two teams had combined for 38 runs — with Rhinelander holding on for the 20-18 win.
The victory marked the first in program history for the Jr. Legion Rebels.
