Hodag Highlights: Hardball upsets Mosinee

On Friday, May 16 the Rhinelander High School baseball team hosted Mosinee, the first-place team in the conference. Conner Rappley pitched a complete game for the Hodags, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits and striking out 2. In the bottom of the 7th, the Hodags were down a run with John Turek on 3rd and Jackson Waydick on 2nd. Seth Nofftz was up to bat with 2 outs. Nofftz hit a ground ball to the shortstop, Treve Stoffel, who made a wide throw to first as Turek scored to tie the game.Waydick then scored from 2nd for the walk-off win.
On Monday, May 19 the team tallied an 8-4 win at Lakeland. The team had 11 hits including Conner Rappley hitting the team’s first home run of the season. Jackson Waydick pitched 4 1/3 inning for the win, and Dylan Vanderbunt pitched the final 2 2/3 for the save, as the Hodags scored 3 runs in the 6th to ice the game.
