Hodag Heritage Week May 11-17

Posted

The Rhinelander community is gearing up to celebrate its legendary Hodag.
Hodag Heritage Week will start on May 11 and culminate with a full day of events at Pioneer Park on Saturday, May 17, organizers said in a press release.
Events will include a pancake breakfast by the VFW, kids’ bounce house and activities, exhibitors, a Hodag Quest, guest speakers, food and beer vendors, a Hodag art show, Hodag historical bus tours, the ever-famous Hodag Calling Contest, and live music from The Third Wheels and The Prince and the Peach.
On Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m., the public is invited to a special ticketed showing of “Attack of the Hodag” with film director Bill Rebane at The Hilgermann Center for Community.

Also available throughout Hodag Heritage Week is the All Things Hodag List, featuring a wide selection of Hodag-themed items from local businesses—many of which are only offered during this special week. Pick up your list at the Chamber or the Hodag Store.
“This event continues to grow every year. We’ve doubled our number of exhibitors since last year and added a new and exciting Hodag Quest, among other things,” said Rachel Boehlen, the chamber’s director of events and strategic initiatives. “There’s something for everyone, and we invite the entire community to come celebrate our Hodag!”
