The Hodag Dome will soon be reopened to the public, school district officals announced Monday.
A specialized crew from Arizon, the manufacturer of the facility, is diligently working to restore the facility to full functionality, district officials said in a press release.
The first phase of repairs is focused on the Dome’s interior lighting system. All lighting fixtures are being inspected and repaired to ensure safety and full illumination of the space. Following this, the team will address all large and small fabric tears on the inside of the Dome.
The repair team expects to complete all scheduled Dome repairs by the end of next week. Once repairs are finished, the Dome will be reopened for public use.
While repairs to the track and tennis courts are being scheduled for a later date, those efforts will not interfere with the Dome's reopening or regular usage by community members.
In addition, a new communication system will be installed for the generator system to ensure timely alerts to district maintenance staff. As an added precaution, district maintenance personnel will remain on call during potential weather-related power outages to ensure uninterrupted operations moving forward. The district's insurance company has approved all of the repairs needed to get the Dome back to full operations, the release said.
The dome was damaged after a backup generator failed to operate during an ice storm in late March.
