Former judicial candidate Mike Fugle has resigned as corporation counsel for Oneida County. Fugle’s last day of work was Aug. 20, according to Oneida County administrative coordinator Tracy Hartman.
“We wish Mike the best in his future endeavors,” Hartman wrote in an email to county department heads.
Fugle, who twice ran for the position of Oneida County circuit judge, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
He was appointed county corporation counsel in the spring of 2021 after 13 years as assistant corporation counsel. He succeeded Brian Desmond who left to take a position in southern Wisconsin. In addition to providing legal advice to the Oneida County board, county committees and departments, the corporation counsel’s office is also involved in elder abuse investigations, mental health commitments, child support enforcement and cases involving children in need of protective services.
In other courthouse news, the Oneida County Board of Supervisors has named Cambrya Hurlburt the county’s new chief medical examiner. The vote took place during the board’s August meeting.
“The Public Safety Committee and I have spent the last six months reevaluating the structure of the Medical Examiner’s Office and believe that Ms. Hurlburt will do a great job in the role of Chief Medical Examiner,” Hartman said in a statement to the Star Journal.
