Fourth of July Parade theme announced

Organizers of the annual Rhinelander Fourth of July Parade have announced the theme for this year’s event is “Road to Independence” in recognition of the start of the Revolutionary War in 1775.
The main parade will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, July 4. The parade will start at the police station on Frederick Street, head south on Brown Street, then east on Anderson St, and north on Stevens Street to Rives Street.
Units of interest include the Rhinelander High School Band, Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay, Edgar High School Band, Zor Funsters, the Rhinelander Community Band and Janesville Fife and Drum.
Parade applications are available at the Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce Office.
In a press release, the organizing committee stated it is in search of antique, new or just plain sharp cars or trucks to lead sponsored units. Contact Dale Schlieve 369-1814 for more information.

Awards will be given for the following categories: Non-Profit, Business, Marching and General.
Donations for the fireworks or parade can be sent to: Dale Schlieve, 312 Conro St, Rhinelander, WI 54501. Make checks payable to Rhinelander Chamber Commerce
Distribution of candy, promo items, pamphlets, etc allowed only if Rhinelander Police Department Distribution form is signed and recorded with the Dept. You can walk along the curb to distribute candy, but nothing can be thrown from the vehicle/float.
The Rhinelander Lions Kiddie Parade will begin at 10 a.m. with lineup at 9:30 a.m. by Zion Church/School on Frederick Street.
