Food pantry surpasses milestone

Posted

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander Area Food Pantry reached a milestone recently. In its 12th year of operation, volunteers celebrated surpassing five million pounds of food distributed in the community.

The accomplishment was noted during the annual RAFP volunteer appreciation lunch July 20. Ginger Chrobak, RAFP treasurer, is pictured cutting the celebratory cake.

The Food Pantry opened in 2005 at the Nativity of Our Lord Thrift Shop, and moved into its current location at 627 Coon St. in 2014.  Last year over 400 volunteers donated time to help the pantry serve an average of 400-450 households per month.
