Trung Tran, the former Rhinelander physician charged with two felonies in the death of his toddler son, ended up pleading no contest to an amended charge of obstructing an officer in Oneida County court July 12.
According to court records, a charge of child abuse/failing to prevent bodily harm. a class H felony, was dismissed and a charge of neglecting a child/consequence is death was amended to obstructing, a misdemeanor. The charges were brought in September 2017 following the death of his son Avery Edwards.
Tran's now ex-wife Ellen Tran was convicted of the boy's death last December and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
