Edward J. Kriha, 90, of South Milwaukee and formerly of Rhinelander, died Friday, July 26, 2013. He was born Jan. 26, 1923, in Chicago to James and Pearl (Agnew) Kriha. Ed honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Eleanor Kapka June 21, 1947, in Chicago. Ed was a heavy duty mechanic prior to he and Eleanor moving to Rhinelander in 1969 where they owned and operated the Moosehead Motel and Bar until selling the business in 1993. Ed was also employed by the town of Crescent and served two terms on the Crescent Town Board. He was a life member of V.F.W. Ray Rousseau Post 3143 in Rhinelander. Ed is survived by his daughter, Jan Marie Kriha of Rhinelander; two sons, Keith Kriha of New Jersey and Bruce Kriha of Milwaukee; two granddaughters, Nicole and Crystal; and a sister-in-law, Jean Kapka of San Francisco, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor on Sept. 28, 2005; a son, Ross Kriha in 1951; a sister, Pearl; and a brother, Ronald. Visitation for Ed will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Carlson Funeral Home in Rhinelander. Private interment will take place in Northland Memorial Park. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, Ed suggested memorials be made to the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.
