A crowd estimated at over 100 people filled The Pines Event Center on March 3 for a forum featuring the three candidates for the Democratic Party nomination for the 7th Congressional District, the event’s organizer Northern Lights Indivisible, reports.
Fred Clark, Chris Armstrong, and Ginger Murray are seeking to replace the current U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany, a Republican who is running for governor.
According to the Northern Lights Indivisible press release, the event principally consisted of questions from the audience. The candidates gave their views on issues such as health care, the war in Iran, the local economy. The candidates were united in their condemnation of the Trump administration and the current Congress, but expressed different approaches to how to solve problems and how they would serve the people as members of Congress.
“It was important for the audience to have all three candidates responding to questions,” said Pat O’Grady, the head of Northern Lights Indivisible and the emcee for the event. “People will be able to decide which candidate they prefer early in the campaign season and support them moving forward.”
Chris Armstrong is the owner of a small business in the IT industry with offices in Hudson and New Richmond. Fred Clark is a forester and conservationist from Bayfield who served three terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly, 2009-2016. Ginger Murray was elected City Attorney for Crandon and Town Attorney for Laona, and runs her own law practice.
The primary will be held on August 11.
