The City of Rhinelander will host a public information meeting on proposed municipal Well #9 on Monday, May 12. The session is scheduled to take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Northwoods Center, Room 207 on the Nicolet College campus, 5364 College Drive, Rhinelander.
Representatives from Town and Country Engineering, Inc – the City’s engineering firm for this proposed project – as well as representatives from the City of Rhinelander will be on hand to discuss and answer questions about this proposed project.
“We appreciate the opportunity to have this dialogue with the community and to answer questions that the public might have,” city administrator Patrick Reagan said in a press release. “We also appreciate the assistance that we have received from Nicolet College about this project, and we look forward to this discussion.”
A large group of Town of Pelican residents attended a town board meeting on Monday, May 5 where town chairman Nick Scholtes explained the process that must be followed in order to build a municipal well. Mark Barden of Town & Country Engineering was also present. He provided an overview of the history of the project but noted that specific questions related to potential impacts will need to be answered by engineers from the company's Madison office who will be doing the actual work, if the project moves forward. Two engineers from Town& Country's Madison office, Greg Droessler and Amy Beras, are scheduled to attend the May 12 meeting. During the May 5 meeting, Pelican residents also requested that a representative from the DNR attend the May 12 meeting. Barden stated he would reach out to the agency.
