City designates JWMS as polling site for April 1 election (UPDATED)

Posted

The City of Rhinelander Common Council has approved a recommendation made by Austyn Zarda, City Clerk, to relocate the City of Rhinelander polling location for the April 1 Spring Election to the gymnasium of James Williams Middle School, located at 915 Acacia Ln, Rhinelander.

Wisconsin State Statutes state that the municipal clerk and a
majority of the Common Council must convene and agree on a new polling location. The decision  to designate JWMS was made curing a special meeting of the Rhinelander Common Council Sunday evening.

A new location was necessary as the Hodag Dome has been temporarily deflated for repairs following the weekend ice storm.

On Tuesday, voters should utilize the parking lots south of Mike Webster Stadium, as well as adjacent to the Hodag Dome, and make their way to the rear entrances of James Williams Middle School, where they will utilize the exterior doors to directly enter the gymnasium, where they will be able to cast their ballots.

"We are working closely with the School District of Rhinelander to ensure
that this transition works as efficiently as possible," Zarda said in a press release. "We will be placing signage and markers to help guide voters to the correct polling place and will have staff stationed at the Hodag Dome to redirect voters to the new location. We thank you all for your patience and understanding. We want to thank the School District of Rhinelander for working so closely with the City of Rhinelander to ensure that all those who plan to cast their ballot on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, can do so."

Any questions or concerns can be directed to Austyn Zarda, City Clerk of the City of Rhinelander, at 715-365-8600 ext. 1, or through email at azarda@rhinelanderwi.us.
