Church or Tiffany?

I think it is time to curtail Tiffany’s political climb up the political ladder. He has served in the State Assembly for one year and will have served in the State Senate for eight years. His aspiration of moving on to the federal level as a Congressman is beyond his level of competence. During his tenure in office he has shown that he can’t be trusted.

Although, he has apologized for his failed attempt as a member of the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee to effectively repeal the open-records law during an infamous last-minute vote taken at night on a holiday weekend, he seems unrepentant. He has refused to state whether he would bring or support a bill to place the state legislature under the same records retention rules as others in state government. While he did roll out an initiative called the Homeowners’ Bill of Rights to protect against the “creep of overbearing government,” this lawmaker who opposes local governments’ use of eminent domain has supported its use by the state for out-of-state private oil pipeline companies which gave Enbridge Energy, a Canadian oil pipeline company, the power to condemn private property for oil pipeline operations and projects. Additionally, he was not adverse to state government prohibiting locals from establishing regulations under their authority to regulate health, safety and welfare, passing their own water and air quality standards and passing their own blasting ordinances.

While I don’t care for some of Jason Church’s policies or positions, I think he would be a better choice than Tiffany. From his bio, Church graduated from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse with a degree in political science. He served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Afghanistan, where he was injured in an IED explosion (he lost both legs). After medically retiring from the Army, Church completed an M.A. in security studies at Georgetown University and a J.D. at Wisconsin Law School. Captain Church’s (Ret.) military awards include the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Airborne Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab. He also worked as an aide to U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.). I believe Jason Church would better serve the people of Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District than Tiffany.
