BOYS SWIMMING: Hodags lose at Shawano, 102-68

The Rhinelander High School boys swimming team placed first in five of the 11 events Tuesday when the Hodags lost their Great Northern Conference dual meet at Shawano, 102-68.

RHS had two swimmers win two events each. Nolan Francis placed first in both the 100-yard butterfly (59.83 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:00.58), while Russell Benoy topped the 100 freestyle (56.49) and 200 freestyle (2:07.52).

The Hodags’ other first-place finish came from Martin Hoger in the 500 freestyle (6:07.65).

RHS placed second to Shawano in all three relays. Thaddeus Heck recorded the Hodags’ only individual runner-up finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.2) and also placed third in the 100 freestyle (1:00.61). Hoger added a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:32.93).

RHS, which is now 0-4 for the season in GNC dual meets, hosts its final meet before the new year Thursday against Medford.
