A parade of thanks

A group of James Williams Middle School (JWMS) teachers and staff took some time Friday morning to say thanks to the school’s principals, in a socially-distanced way. They organized a car parade for principal Richard Gretzinger and associate principal Kyle Raleigh.

“When we realized Principal’s Day was coming up, we decided that even though we are apart during the Safer-at-Home order, that we needed to do something because our principals have really stepped up and done amazing things for our students, families, and staff during this time,” said JWMS teacher Kim Bowman.

Bowman is part of the COVID-19 Student Motivation Team, which was created during the transition to virtual schooling to make and send out motivational videos and messages to students and their families. She said the team asked students to make a thank you sign for the principals and submit a photo of themselves with the sign.

“But we still needed to do something as a staff,” Bowman said. “Since everyone is getting a little stir crazy, we decided to put out the parade request; we had a great turnout with many staff and families.”
