The Rhinelander High School softball team was scheduled to host Tomahawk in a doubleheader on Thursday, May 1. However, after the Hatchets arrived the officials deemed the Rhinelander fields unplayable due to the wet conditions and everyone packed up and made the trip to Tomahawk where only one of the games was played. The Hodags scored in the top of the first and were tied midway through the game with each team scoring 4 times. Then walks, errors and timely hits by Tomahawk allowed the Hatchets to build a lead. Tomahawk earned the win 13-4. Aleece Johnson pitched a complete game for the Hodags and took the loss.

The Rhinelander High School track team participated in an indoor meet at Northland Pines High School in Eagle River on Thursday, April 3.. Several members of the track team were not in attendance as the distance runners were in the Point Indoor Distance Carnival on Friday and other members went to the state indoor track meet at UW-Whitewater. The Hodag boys placed second out of the 8 teams in attendance and the girls placed first. Macy Myers scored a win in the 800 meter dash and was the anchor of the winning 4x400 relay with Ellie Cummings, Gretchen Fiebke and Mady Treder. Aila Bergman won the 55 meter hurdles to claim the team’s other first place finish. The boys also scored three first-place finishes.
