Veterans Day program held at Rhinelander middle school

RHINELANDER – James Williams Middle School held its annual Veterans Day ceremony Monday, Nov. 11. Emcees were Keyan Karpf and Lola Beach, both eighth graders.
The program featured the Northwoods Honor Guard to post and retire the colors. Music, including the “Star Spangled Banner” and marches of the Armed Forces, was performed by the JWMS bands, under the direction of Olivia Bowman and Jacob Kulba. The choir, directed by Chloe Shepard and accompanied by Mary Peterson, sang two songs, “Let Freedom Ring” and “This is America.”
Guest speaker at the event was Casey Lehmann. Lehmann joined the Wisconsin Army National Guard while in high school. She served in Charlie Company 724th Engineer Battalion located in Tomahawk and Rhinelander as a signal support specialist for six years. She deployed with the 724th to Iraq in 2003.
Lehmann currently works as the financial aid manager at Nicolet Area Technical College.
