Fair weather, great time at the Oneida County Fair
By Star Journal Staff
RHINELANDER – Billed as one of the best little fairs in Wisconsin, the Oneida County Fair Board presented a full schedule of entertainment, plenty of food and beverage vendors, carnival rides and games at the 2024 fair, held July 25-28 at Pioneer Park.
Live music Thursday began with the Big Blitz, a Pittsburgh-based trio playing a combination of influences that included dance, electronic and jazz improv.
Regular features included the Havens Petting Farm, the Iron Woman Skillet Toss competition and a watermelon eating contest.
This year’s fair also featured a lumberjack show, a stuffy parade led by Ollie Oneida and the Hodag, and a strolling stilt walker and magician.
Other musical acts included the Rhinelander-based Santy and Son and Friends, Nate Sheppard and Northwoods Choraliers, Northwoods Ukers, Kids at Play, Bogfoot and others.
Rhinelander photographers Bob Mainhardt and Dave Melancon captured the sights of this year’s event.
