MERRILL – A second teen has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a Lincoln Hills counselor earlier this week. Lincoln Hills-Copper Lake is Wisconsin’s only youth prison and is located in Irma.
Rian Nyblom, 17, is held on a $20,000 cash bond and charged with felony murder-battery special circumstances and battery by prisoners, all with a party to a crime modifier.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Nyblom was incarcerated in the same unit as Javarius Hurd, 16, who was previously arrested for the June 24 incident that led to the death of Corey Proulx, 49. A 25-year old female counselor was injured in the altercation but is expected to make a full recovery.
A telephone scheduling conference is set for July 11 in Nyblom’s case, in Lincoln County circuit court. Hurd’s next court date is a scheduling conference set for July 3.
Hurd is being held on a $100,000 cash bond, charged with second degree reckless homicide, felony murder-battery special circumstances and two counts of battery by prisoners.
