Phillip Street bridge closed

The Phillip Street Bridge in Rhinelander is closed beginning Monday, Aug. 14 for up to three weeks so workers can replace the water main running under the bridge. Musson Brothers Inc. is doing the work; the bridge is expected to remain open to pedestrian traffic.

WIS 17

Work continues on WIS 17, US 8 to Stevens Street in Rhinelander. Beginning Monday, Aug. 14, crews will be working on the intersection shut down of Co. C and will have 10 days to complete this work. There will be crews on site to work on excavation and curb and gutter. The project is scheduled for completion in October.

Monico detour

US 45 near Monico is closed Aug. 14 until noon Aug. 18 near the intersection with US 8. US 45 traffic will be detoured on WIS 64, WIS 55 and US 8. The closure is necessary as crews replace the culverts carrying Monico Creek below US 45. The work is part of a reconstruction project of the US 8/45 intersection. For more information on road work in the north central region, visit projects.511wi.gov.

US 8 pavement project

A $4.43 million pavement replacement project is underway on US 8 in Oneida County, from North Rifle Road to WIS 47 in Rhinelander. Work began Aug. 7 and is scheduled for completion in late October, depending on weather and construction progress.

To address what the Department of Transportation said is signs of deterioration, the project will remove the existing asphalt pavement and replace with new asphalt, replace culverts, make spot repairs to inlets, outlets, curb and gutter; replace the railroad crossing and place new pavement markings.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction with one 48-hour detour for the replacement of the rail crossing. For more information on traffic impacts and project updates for all of the north-central region visit projects.511wi.gov.
