The School District of Rhinelander and the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting “Hodag Day at the Dome,” Wednesday, Dec. 7. The community-wide celebration of the mythical beast comes after the Hodag was named Best High School Mascot in the Nation following an on-line poll.

An opening ceremony begins the event at 4 p.m. and will include speakers and a pep band performance.

Games, inflatables, music, prizes, appearances by not only the Hodag, but also Milwaukee sports talk radio hosts Drew and K.B. Commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase.

“The Hodag was recently named the Best High School Mascot in the Nation,” said Eric Burke, SDR Superintendent, “We thought that deserved a celebration, not only for our students, but for the whole community.”

The event is free and open to all. Attendees will have a chance at winning a special Hodag plush door prize.
