STAR JOURNAL STAFF
Unsuspecting shoppers in downtown Rhinelander were surprised with floral bouquets Wednesday morning. As part of the nationwide “Petal it Forward” campaign, Trig’s Floral and Home staff hit the streets in Rhinelander as well as Minocqua, Woodruff, Eagle River and St. Germain to help brighten a stranger’s day by handing out two bouquets; one to keep and one to give.
This is the sixth year the store has participated in the event which was started by the Society of American Florists to “reduce stress and make people happy through the power of flowers.”
Research from the University of North Florida’s Department of Public Health shows that living with flowers can significantly reduce stress.
“Flowers do wonders for your well-being, increasing happiness, workplace productivity, decreasing worry and anxiety and more,” according to a Trig’s statement. “Plus, when it comes to flowers, it’s just as good to give as it is to receive.”
