Fall cleanup schedule

For the Star Journal
Rhinelander fall yard waste cleanup is set to begin Oct. 31. Residents must set out brush and leaf bags by 7 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31 to be guaranteed pickup, which will take place through Nov. 11. Residents missing this deadline will be required to haul the yard waste and brush to Oneida County Solid Waste at their expense.
The following conditions will be in place:
• Clear plastic or paper bags are required.
• Brush must be free of rope, wire, lumber or other debris and neatly piled with the cut end of limbs facing the street. Bags containing a mixture of yard waste and household rubbish or garbage will not be picked up.
• Residents are not allowed to rake leaves or yard waste lying loose in the curb line or street. Violators may be billed for cleanup or issued a citation.
• Do not stack brush on leaf bags as each item is picked up separately.
Yard waste cleanup is intended for city residents maintaining their yards, not for cleanup for residential tree removal contractors, cleaning of vacant lots for developers, businesses or tax-exempt properties. Residents are asked to help slow the spread of invasive species by separating out buckthord, exotic honeysuckle and Japanese knotweed. To schedule pickup of invasive plants, call the Public Works Department at 715-369-4727.
