Photo Gallery: Hodag tennis
Girls tennis is one of the fall Hodag sports teams that is defending a conference championship. Head coach Matt Nichols will lead a team that has several holes to fill as both 1 and 2 singles players as well as half of the No. 2 doubles team graduated.
The first meet was Aug. 15 at Bayport High School, a two-day invitation where the team faced tough competition, going 0-6.
Last week was the first home conference meet against Lakeland. Matches did not go the Hodags’ way as the team could only muster a win at No. 1 singles, where Tori Riopel defeated Sarah Barton 7-6, 6-2.
The team hosted Ironwood, Mich. and Merrill Friday, defeating both teams 7-0.
