Hodag Food Wagon opens June 14

The YMCA of the Northwoods and Rhinelander Area Food Pantry are working together to fight childhood food insecurity. Studies show one in six children in the U.S. is fighting hunger.

Together with UW-Extension Food Wise, the Y and RAFP are kicking off the second annual Hodag Food Wagon, starting Thursday, July 14. This year distribution will be at two locations in Rhinelander.

The Hodag Food Wagon is a free summer food distribution program for youth on Thursdays, noon-1 p.m. throughout the summer. “Wagons” will be located outside the Rhinelander District Library and the YMCA Youth Development Center, 511 S. Pelham Street.

Children will receive a bag of mostly non-perishable food items, and when available, fresh fruit or drinks.

Anyone interested in supporting or volunteering for the Hodag Food Wagon can contact Stephanie Dahlquist at the Y, 715-362-9622, ext. 104 or [email protected]
