Rhinelander library plastic collection a success
For the Star Journal
It took less than six weeks for the Rhinelander District Library to collect enough plastics to earn a recycled-material bench from Trex.
The library had six months, but the community came forward with 500 pounds of plastic bags and films in closer to one month. The library is no longer accepting plastic for recycling.
The library partnered with decking manufacturer Trex in conjunction with the summer reading program “Oceans of Possibilities,” to collect the plastic in effort to keep it out of local waters and land.
