TENNIS

Thursday night the Hodag tennis team played the Lakeland T-Birds for the first meet of the season. The Hodag Dome was the venue as the tennis courts at both schools were snow covered. This year the T-Birds were able to fill all the flights as compared to last year only having three players at the end of the season.

The Hodags won all flights in straight sets to win the meet 7-0.

SOFTBALL

Rhinelander softball played their first conference game at the Hodag Dome on Thursday against the Northland Pines Eagles. The Eagles scored first in the top of the first after a single and scored on an error. That was the only run the Hodags would give up as the home team scored three in the third, one in the fifth and three more in the sixth inning to earn the win. Addi DeMeyer pitched and got the win giving up one unearned run on three hits while striking out nine. The Hodags had five hits on the night.

On Saturday the Hodags played Marshfield and Hayward in the Dome and did not have the luck they enjoyed Thursday. Marshfield played the Hodags in the first game and handed the Hodags a 16-1 loss in five innings. Addi DeMeyer broke up a no hitter in the fourth inning with a home run giving the Hodags their only run.

In the second game the Hodags played Hayward and had a one run lead going into the bottom of the seventh and gave up two runs to lose a heartbreaker.
