RHINELANDER – The Hodag boys basketball team played their final conference game Friday night against the Tomahawk Hatchets. Before the game the seven seniors were honored and an all-senior lineup started the game.

The Hodags scored 24 points before Tomahawk made a basket after seven minutes of play. The Hodags led at half time 51-10 thanks to a pressure defense that caused several Hatchet turnovers which led to baskets. After gaining the large lead coach Lemmens called off the full court press and maintained the 40 point lead that forced the running clock with nine minutes left in the game.

Jacksen Smith led all scorers with 18 points followed by Jaden Beske and Ty Welk with 10 points each. The final score was 71-28 as 11 of the 13 players scored for the Hodags.

The Hodags begin regional play Tuesday against the Antigo Red Robins in Rhinelander.
