Hodag hockey: Boys season comes to an end

RHINELANDER – The Hodag hockey team hosted Mosinee in the sectional semi-final game, where a win would mean a trip to the sectional final and a chance to play in the state tournament on the line.
Mosinee’s last trip to Rhinelander resulted in the Hodags losing and playing for third place in the conference.
Rhinelander was looking for revenge but it was not to be as Mosinee scored first in the opening period. The Hodags would tie the score with a goal by Sam Schneider in the first but Mosinee would score two more for a 3-1 lead after one period.
The Hodags would not score again but Mosinee would put one more in the net in the second period and three more in the third to force a running clock and earn the 7-1 win sending them to Eagle River to face Lakeland for the chance to make it to state.
This was the last game for five seniors, Cal Laggis, Carter Detienne, Joe Schneider, Garrett Kulhanek and Caleb Shefveland.
