Girls Hockey: Edge hosts Medford

For the Star Journal
RHINELANDER – The Northern Edge played their last game in Rhinelander for the season Monday night as the parents of the girls were honored between the first and second periods.
The Edge scored three goals in the first period and seemed to be in control until the Medford Raiders scored two goals in the first two minutes apart to be only down 3-2 after the first period.
The Edge came out in the second period and scored with just over a minute gone by and then added three more in the period to take a commanding 7-2 lead. Neither team scored in the third to give the Edge the 7-2 win and their second victory of the season. Tonight the Edge take on the Valley Union team in Minocqua for their final regular season game before the playoffs begin.
Taylor Heleniak of Lakeland scored four goals for the Edge and chipped in with an assist on the other three goals. Rhinelander’s Wyndi Saari had two assists on goals for the Edge. The Edge outshot the Raiders 41-13 in the game. BOB MAINHARDT PHOTOS
