Oneida County jail inmate dies by suicide
RHINELANDER – The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the death of an inmate by suicide. Jail corrections officers reportedly noticed the inmate attempting suicide around 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21.
Rhinelander Fire Department Medics and corrections officers attempted to revive the inmate who was then pronounced dead at the jail. The deceased’s name is not being released at this time.
The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting an investigation surrounding the incident. The State Department of Corrections has been notified and is conducting an administrative review, as well as the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office conducting an internal review.
