Newly appointed police Captain Josh Chiamulera received his badge during a ceremony at Rhinelander City Hall Monday morning.

Chiamulara has been on the force since 2007 and was promoted to Detective Sergeant in 2013.

Chief Lloyd Gauthier noted the captain’s accomplishments include recently opening up and solving a cold case, and introducing the recovery coach program at the RPD.

“The city of Rhinelander today has gotten stronger because of the promotion of Josh as captain,” said Mayor Christopher Frederickson. “We have a leader who is going to pay forward with his heart, pay it back with his due diligence…it does my heart good knowing Josh is going to be our captain.”

Chiamulera thanked everyone in attendance for their support. The captain’s position has been vacant since the retirement of Ron Lueneberg in 2020.
