Russell Carl Steinke, age 86 of Rhinelander and formerly of Milwaukee, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020. He was born March 5, 1934, in Fort Atkinson to Martha (Korth) and Clarence Steinke, Sr.

Russ was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, serving in the Signal Corps while stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. He also served in the Army Reserves for several years.

Russ is survived by his wife, Marylin; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea (Thomas) Kniewel of Rhinelander; one grandson; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sisters-in-law, Clarence Steinke, Karen Steinke and Sharon Sommer. A funeral service will be held Dec. 6 in New Berlin, followed by military honors. Burial will take place at the Sugar Camp Cemetery. (Hildebrand Funeral Home)
