Obituary: Paul Obed Shaffer
Paul Obed Shaffer, age 96 of Rhinelander, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, at Rennes Health and Rehab. He was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Minneapolis to Richard and Minnie (Johnson) Shaffer.
Paul served as a pilot in the Air Force during WWII. He was trained to fly bombers, but he was proudest of flying cargo to the troops and flying out the wounded and medical personnel. His military travels took him to England, France, Egypt and India. He was honorably discharged as a second lieutenant.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie; and his friends at Rennes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine. There will be no formal services for Paul. (Carlson Funeral Home)
