Soccer regional play continued Saturday with the Antigo Red Robins earning the right to face the Hodags in the regional final at Rhinelander. The Red Robins defeated Hayward 3-2 Tuesday night while the Hodags received the bye being the number 1 seed.

The Hodags defeated the Robins during the regular season and were looking to do the same and advance to the sectional semi-final on Thursday. The Hodags had not practiced all week due to illnesses and not being able to be indoors for any organized activities.

The game began with cool temps and the rust showing on the Hodags side but Beau Howard was able to find the back of the net twice to give the home team a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

Rhinelander’s Beau Howard was able to score one more goal with 5:50 left in the game for the hat trick to push the lead to 3-0 which was also the final score.

The sectional semi-final will be played in Rhinelander on Thursday at Mike Webster stadium in Rhinelander at 7 p.m. The opponent for the Hodags will be the Medford Raiders with the winner advancing to Saturday’s sectional final in Medford and a trip to state to the winner of Saturday’s game.
