Rhinelander Mayor Chris Frederickson released a statement Tuesday regarding the contract termination of city administrator Daniel Guild. Following a lengthy closed session, the Rhinelander Common Council voted unanimously Monday to end Guild’s employment.

“The city and I appreciate the many accomplishments that have occurred during Daniel’s time with the city,” Frederickson stated. ” We are also looking forward to moving forward on projects that have been discussed by the new council.”

The council also voted Monday to extend to June 30 what Frederickson characterized as a “short limited-term” consulting contract with Zach Vruwink.

“Leadership, experience and availability were the principal reasons for my decision to ask Zach if he was itnerested in a short-term consulting contract,” Frederickson stated. “Zach served four terms as Wisconsin Rapids mayor and is currently serving as president of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with degrees in political science, public administration and an economics minor.”

The council has made no decision regarding the city’s organizational structure, including consideration of a new city administrator.
