Shoeders thank Rhinelander front line workers with gift cards
Star Journal report
Pick any adjective – these days are challenging, uncertain, unprecedented, the list goes on. But in spite of that, or maybe because of it, a pair of Rhinelander business owners set out to do something positive to reward and thank the people in the community who are making these days bearable.
Scott and Ali Shoeder, owners of Shoeder’s RV and Marine, bought 200 gift cards valued at $25 each from 34 different restaurants in the Rhinelander area. They are giving them away to folks who work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and grocery stores.
“Whether they work as doctors, nurses, janitors or somewhere in between,” Scott said, “they just have to stop in, show us their work badge or name tag, and pick out a gift card.”
He emphasized they do not have to be customers of theirs or do business with them. Just stop in.
Scott said he hopes the purchases can provide a little cash flow to the local restaurants and also show the couple’s thanks for what these workers do. “Hopefully, it’s a win for everybody,” he added.
A lot of the people who do business with Shoeder’s, Scott said, are people with second homes and those who vacation in the area. The same people who patronize dining establishments.
“Our business works hand-in-hand with restaurants and bars,” Scott said. “Our customers are their customers and we want to do what we can to help.”
Shoeder’s is open 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays. The cards are available on a first come, first served basis.
