UPDATE: Lincoln County sheriff has identified the passenger killed as Tyler S. Krenz, age 16 Merrill. Krenz is the fourth fatality on Lincoln County roads in 2020.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a 16-year old Merrill resident was killed early Wednesday in a car crash in the town of Pine River.

A 911 call was received at 1:14 a.m. April 29, reporting a vehicle had left the road and rolled over on Shady Lane Ave. When deputies arrived on the scene they found a passenger in the vehicle had been ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second passenger was transported to a Wausau hospital; the driver of the vehicle was treated and released. He is currently in custody according to a Lincoln County press release.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Names of those involved are expected to be released April 30.
