Viewing local art exhibits from the comfort of home
STAR JOURNAL
The COVID-19 health emergency is keeping people from the ArtStart galleries in Rhinelander, so ArtStart is bringing the galleries to the people.
Though the art galleries are closed, a free online virtual tour at artstartrhinelander.org, opened April 10, offering the public a walk-through of paintings from Daniel Flemming and Martin Rowe. Viewers can also see detailed photos of the collections online.
Flemming’s “Something Like a Storm” exhibit is a collection of recent work reacting on a person level to everyday events and societal trends that impact the artists’ daily life, according to the artstartrhinelander.org website. All the work was made in preparation for this exhibition over the last two years.
“Between the Lines” by Martin Rowe are a collection of paintings influenced by early memories of visiting the National Gallery in London as a child.
“The artist statement often leaves out the most important part of being an artist: the joy—the pure joy of creating. I find my joy when I paint. “Between the Lines” is my life story of walking an external visual path navigated by an internal understanding of my creative needs,” Rowe is quoted as saying.
The tour and detailed photographs were made possible by Nate Sheppard Media.
