• League of Women Voters of the Northwoods forums scheduled for Monday, March 16 (Rhinelander City Council candidates) and Wednesday, March 18 (Oneida County supervisor candidates).
“We are also following the recommendation of the LWVUS and the CDC. We proactively reached out to our local health department and were given the same guidance to err on the side of caution in this public health emergency.
This is a critical time in a busy election year and local residents were planning to learn more about the positions of local candidates at these forums. What we can recommend is to use the LWV’s Vote411 Candidates Guide, which all forum participants have participated in.
We so appreciated the willingness of the candidates to meet with their constituents and hear their questions and concerns. And the League was so pleased to be able to bring this to your community. We hope you understand our erring on the side of caution during this public health crisis. Please use the Vote411 Candidates Guide.”
• Oneida County Storm Spotter Class scheduled for Tuesday, March 17
“The National Weather Service will offer online alternative arrangements for their storm spotter classes this season. CDC guidance continues to suggest that social distancing can be effective at limiting the overall spread of the virus; therefore, the National Weather Service will need to protect attendees and their employees by providing the spotter training via remote means. The National Weather Service will provide a pre-recorded presentation and links to the Skywarn Web Training Material at https://www.weather.gov/grb/skywarn. The training material will serve as a supplement and could help keep track of individuals that have taken the training.
