Sectional victory for Hodag swimmers

Sectionals for boys swimming were held in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, and the Hodag boys had a good showing winning the sectional for the second year in a row and sending nine entries on to the state meet next Friday.

Thaddeus Heck won the 100-yard breaststroke and was an automatic qualifier for state and the 200-yard freestyle relay won to also qualify automatically. The 200-yard freestyle swimmers are freshmen Daniel Gillingham and Charlie Heck, junior Joseph Heck and senior Devon Gaber. Other qualifiers for Rhinelander based on times are the 200-yard medley relay with Joseph Heck, Thaddeus Heck, David King and Devon Gaber. Jack Antonuk will be swimming the 200-yard IM. Both Devon Gaber and Joseph Heck will be in the 50-yard freestyle. David King will be swimming the 100-yard butterfly, Devon Gaber qualified in the 100-yard freestyle, and finally the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Daniel Gillingham, David King, Jack Antonuk and Charlie Heck are swimming on Friday at State.
