Remembering Mr. Williams

Editor,
We all have a good idea as to when a person has people-person qualities. The first people person I met in the early years of my life was the principle of the Rhinelander Jr. High. The school was named after him and his name was James Williams. He was not loud and he always positioned himself among the student body. He had a kind heart and made it a point to know those that where high achievers but he also sought out those hiding in the shadows just to share a complimentary word. Mr. Williams reflected his positive compassion for all students. He was not superficial or an “I” person. His total commitment was supported by his soul, his faith and caring character. That’s why after all these years I always envision him standing in front of the class. He was in a class by himself. Why did I share this with you? Because we need to vote for people that share a good portion of this model of character so representation is not an expectation. Some might remember when a hand shake was certification of a contract. People who are guided by their faith and strong moral standards need to apply.
Food for thought.
Craig Strid, Rhinelander
