Tree of Love Ceremony: 6 p.m., at ArtStart Rhinelander. Sponsored by Ascension at Home. Remembrance celebration to recognize the pain of loss and begin the holiday season with hearts full of love and memories. No registration, free and all are welcome. Mary Ellen, 800-643-4663.

Northwoods Memory Cafe: 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m. Gathering place for those with early stage dementia, mild memory loss or cognitive impairment and care partners. Refreshments, games, music. Immanuel Ev. The Northwoods Ukers: Every Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Olson Memorial Library, Eagle River. All welcome to learn, jam and have fun.

Christmas Cookie Sale: 8 a.m. until sold out, at ArtStart in Rhinelander. Sponsored by the Rhinelander United Methodist Women. Variety of homemade Christmas cookies and candy. $8 per pound.

Saturday, Dec. 7

Sounds of the Holidays: 5 p.m., downtown Rhinelander. Annual Christmas parade on Brown Street followed by a tree lighting ceremony and visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus at Stevensport Square. 715-365-7464 or rhinelanderchamber.com.
Holiday Open House: Noon-4 p.m., Rhinelander Historical Society Museum, 9 S. Pelham Street. Live holiday music, tours, eggnog, apple cider, cookies and treats. Old fashioned sleigh will be parked in front, available for family photos. Free and open to all.
Holiday Bake Sale: 9:30 a.m., Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rhinelander. Offering specialty cookies, “famous” homemade lefse and many other ethnic baked items. Coffee and cookies served beginning at 9 a.m. 715-362-5910 for more information.
The Nutcracker: 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., Rhinelander High School Auditorium. Performance by members of the Northwoods School of Dance. Also jazz, tap and hip/hop performed by dancers ages 3-22. Tickets at the door $10/adults and $5/children over age 3.
Re-Tale Shop: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 25 Rives Street, next to the Rhinelander District Library. Used books and more. Open Tuesdays and the first Saturday. Run by the Friends of the Rhinelander District Library.
Indoor Farmers Market: 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays at YMCA of the Northwoods, Rhinelander. Fresh and healthy choices. Products sold include eggs, root crops and mixed vegetables, apples, jams, jellies, salsa, cheese, homemade breads and more. For more information, call 715-362-9622.
40th Annual Cookie & Candy Walk: 9:30-11 a.m., United Methodist Church of the Pines. $9 per pound. All proceeds benefit church missions, 715-356-4089.

Taize Service: 4 p.m., every Sunday in Advent, St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Rhinelander. The service has roots in a monastery in Taize, France. Reception to follow each service. Enter through the glass atrium doors.

Personal Essentials Pantry (PEP): Second Monday, monthly, 3:30-5:30 p.m., First United Methodist Church, Rhinelander. Personal items for people in need. New clients should bring documentation of food pantry, WIC, BadgerCare or Food Share program participation.
Aspirus Community Fitness Center: 6-7:45 a.m. and 3:30-6 p.m. Monday through Friday at Rhinelander High School. FREE and open to students and the public.
