The Blue Grass Hotel was built around 1905 with 12 to 14 bedrooms. Ted and Mary Wiese and their small daughter, Evelyn, spent the winter at the hotel in 1911 on their first trip to the area. In 1917, they returned from Minneapolis and become permanent residents. After the hotel burned in 1931, Bill Woelfie built a home on its former location. Low water shown in the Rainbow Flowage reservoir. This is immediately above the dam, showing the effect of rapidly lowering the water table. Note the ice on the bank, indicating the water has dropped better than 20 feet at this time. Taken in Lake Tomahawk, 1958. (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources photo)
